Words from the Weary

Okay, I'm posting, but I don't have anything pithy to say. I am about as exhausted as they come. Drew is moving out this weekend. That's good. He leaves Wednesday and we are leaving Thursday night. Dan's parents will come back with us. I wished we had already bought a house and could have everyone together.

I'm working a horseshow this weekend. Dan is moving his barn a few miles up the road, plus has to come to the horseshow. Kay is going to show at the Music City Futurity and needs him with her this weekend! Which is okay. Matt has a birthday on the 5th, he will be the big 18.

I will provide pictures ASAP.

School Work?

Matt's Spanish 3 project involved taking household chores and making Spanish comments to go with them.
"Gabriel es melanco'lico el piso" I have no idea what that means, but I think it translates, "Let's tear up the house and leave all our props out and see what mom says when she comes home.

Happiness in a can

Back home in OKLAHOMA! we eat a canned chili known as "Wolf Brand". Long ago I used to buy it by the case and bring it back to Georgia for chili dogs. Then we went through the health thing and quit eating chili dogs. Well I guess due to the taunted chili from Augusta last month, Ingles is now carrying Wolf Brand. I bought several cans and hot dogs, rushed home and Gabe and I ate wonderfully nasty chili cheese dogs. (And I wonder why I'm fat!)

Wedding Shower

All in all we have very few days in life when we feel totally loved. Even though the love was shown for my child, I know it was love for me as well. I hope the feeling last a day or two.

Today was Drew and Nicole's shower at church. It went fantastic! I never felt so loved.

The cake was an Angela cake and probably one of her best. Rhonda said, "We've never had this little cake left."

Dan's parents gave the happy couple their china. I think it is beautiful.

Norris and Denitia showed up. (That's Alex the best man in the background). We've known them since Matt was born in 1989. We've lived together in Colorado, Pennsylvannia and now Georgia. Her parents are moving out her by May, that will be fun. If only Dan's parents would move too.

Then my friend Dianne, showed up with her mom Mrs. Dent. I was really in hog heaven.

Add this to all my friend's who made the shower so special. Rhonda and Pam.

Freda, Nancy Hamlin, and Mary Ann Jones. Mary Ann told Denitia, the story of when we firsted joined asking me if Dan was my son!

Brenda (in the middle) who is my rock. Mrs. Reese (Freda's mother in law) and Grace Ussery. Today I told Brenda about my weeping over stupid stuff, she says not to worry it is life changes and they come from here on out! Drew getting married, Gabe going off to school without me (Freda do not roll your eyes), and college classes all fit into her life changes categories. I love Brenda and will be blessed if God gives me half her faith and trust in this life.

Tracy, Erin and Miss Daftner, I don't know why I don't have a picture of Cindy.

Drew has always loved opening gifts and this was his day. Brooke wrote down all the gifts and even got most of the addresses. That was extremely thoughtful.

As you can see I am blessed. (Unfortunately, Matt was at a horse show and missed the good time).

Pioneer Woman Obsession

I can't believe I have lived the life she discribes, have had funnier stories, and never thought that anyone wanted to know about it. Now I am obsessed! I look and can't believe that "preg checkin" cows is a news worthy event.

In all fairness at the moment being obsessed with Pioneer Woman allows me to avoid my college class, cleaning house, washing clothes, doing school work at home (how about 102 folders for my babies that aren't made), and looking for a dress for the wedding that makes a fat woman not look fat. What's up with that! Oh yeah, there is the horse show that has two hours of work to finish before noon!

So I must leave my ranting behind and go look at all that needs to be done. This will be right after I check out more blogs.

Cowboy

I've always called Dan, "Cowboy". Drew said the day Nicole called him that he knew she was a keeper. Matt feel in love with the latest girl for the same reason. Which is kinda cute.

(Remember the Conway Twitty song, "Don't Call Me A Cowboy Until You've Seen Me Ride". Talk about songs with double meanings).

Anyway, last night I saw Cowboy for 10 minutes before I went to church. Came home and he was writing some bills out to customers. So I said want to read my blog. He was very impressed and the kind words I wrote about him were greatly appreciated!

I also showed him pioneer woman and he couldn't believe people can make money doing this. Only if I had all the memories in my mind on film! We could be rich.

(couldn't find a recent photo of me and cowboy -- I'll work on that).

Before Pioneer Woman, There Was Me!!!!!

I must say that when SBB found the website pioneer woman I was fascinated. You mean to tell me all I've needed all these years was a good camera and a website. We could have been rich off the tales of horse training. Oh the stories that have been lived!!!!

So in honor of pioneer woman and the fact that no one really understands what we do---I have included pictures of the recent horse show. Of course I think to be rich at this I need pioneer woman's camera.
This one is of Matt and Dan loping in the practice pen.
Matt and Pricilla (on the right) have been doing this since they could walk. They are both seniors this year. I hope whoever they marry understands that men and women can have best friends of the opposite sex.
Gene is my announcer and a colorful man who keeps me from going to sleep when I am exhausted from getting up at 4:00am and working a 14 hour day. I have grown to love him and his wife Debbie. This weekend Gene looks at me and says, "One thing for sure horse trainers are hard on their wives. Have you ever noticed how broke down a horse trainers wife looks?" No joke, you think the worry has anything to do with it.
Matt came by the office and I snapped this. It was hot as HELL that day!!!! I think it hit 102, according to the Augusta Chronicle.
.
In closing I leave you with my Marlborro Man that puts Pioneer Woman's to shame. He has had the pleasure in this life of doing the thing he loves the most and getting paid for it. (Even though he has never made a ton of money). The worries about money haven't aged him like they have me. I would say that he is the hardest working man I have ever met or will ever meet and he still is the best looking thing in the pen.

TGIF!!!

I'm exhausted!!!! This year it will be a physical exhaustion, not a mental one. I don't like doing the same thing 4 times a day, but it isn't bad. On the crazy things that happened yesterday theme (from monkeybean), I had one of mine come out of DH's room and dive under a table. All the other kids are going, "What's he doing under the table." My reply, "What did you do?" They say, "Nothing." I get in the floor, "__________, why are you under the table?" ____,"I hate lunch." Reply, "Come on you are in fifth grade, no one hates lunch." Then I remember the lost ice cream money. I quickly look at Freda and says, "Got an ice cream pass? Give it to him." He came out and had lunch with ice cream.

Then there is the car rider heat factor going on right now. Thank God my air conditioning is working. 5th grade sits close to the daycare vans during car riders. One of the vans has hot exhaust blowing on us. It is so hot that my leg is bright red when I come in, like a minor burn. I'm trying to keep the kids from being too close and passing out from the heat.

I did hear yesterday from one of the kids that a second grader passed out on the bus and they had to call an ambulance. Thankfully, it was on one of the buses where the driver has chilled bottle water for each child! I need to investigate that today. If the drivers are buying it out of their own money, they need some help.

Day 1

Well this was a great day!!! They are going to be a good group. I've already determined those who have lives that make grown women and men want to cry. Problems that seem insurmountable to me at this time. I pray for lots of wisdom and patience.

Car riders was way HOT!! Don't think I had a dry thread on me!!!! But that went well too. Almost eerie all this wellness around the school.

Acknowledgement

Well last night I finally got done getting my hair colored at 9:00pm and had to have Dan pick me up. On the way home he tells me the boys are fixing pancakes!!! So I said, "Well who's cleaning the kitchen?" Dan replies,"Don't get yourself worked up----You are!!!!" Finally, one of them has admitted that they leave it all for me to do!!!! Now the boys wanted to live, so they cleaned the dishes!!! It is a start....
