Busyness

Beware the barreness of a busy life...Socrates

WOW!!! I really thought that I could commit to writing for a month.  Seemed so simple.  Then the busyness of life set in.  Really I'm amazed at people who are at two or three outside activities with their children, work, keep a home, and do homework.  I can't work a 7:00 to 3:30 job that turns out being 6:45- 6:00 nearly every day and keep all my balls in the air.  Some how I doubt all these young families are making it either.  How can you?

My students assure me that the first thing that goes is their homework.  They don't have time for it.  I spoke to a teaching vetern this week and she shared the defeated feeling.  She doesn't even assign homework anymore...no need...they don't do it. I'm in the same boat, but stubbornly assign it anyway.  Ten years ago I sent my students home with a work packet over spring break.  Now the school sees it as a waste of paper.  Where are we headed with all our busyness?

Unfortunately, on the path to greatness we've forgotten that it takes a firm founation.
