Dear Students,
For around 120 days I've poured every ounce of knowledge I possess on the subject of writing into them. Tomorrow we find out if the state of Georgia thinks that is enough. However, I must admit that you've taught me that I've got so much more to learn! I need to be better at helping those special ed students, who struggle and want to please me. Those with ADHD who need more of me...I feel it as you draw and rip paper struggling to birth every word. I feel your frustrations. Yet, this is education today...bitter. I hate that someone is going to break the very "life blood of writing" in some of you by telling you that you aren't good enough. Well let me remind you tonight that you are more than a pencil and a piece of paper. You breathe and have life!!! You have so much yet to learn and tell. Don't give up!!! Stay with me after tomorrow and let us practice some more of this sweet fruit called writing.
Love,
Mrs. Hestad

30 years later...10950 days...3 boys...2 miscarriages...14 moves...6 wrecks...4 funnerals...and a lifetime of memories later, I would still marry that man over again. I'm very blessed!!!

Day 2 - Busy
Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.
John Lennon
Today is Sunday. A lot of people consider it a day of rest. I on the other hand tend to stay busy from sun up to sun down. Our custom is to go to church on Sunday. We get up, we get dressed, drive 30 minutes to our church, and I'm glad we have this habit. However, today was just busy.
Before we left the house I found out that the three year old granddaughter of one of my high school friends was going into surgery and it was serious. She had aspirated on a popcorn kernel and it was in her lung. So my mind was distracted for her. Someone I've never met, but who was related to someone who once touched my life. My mind was occuppied in praying for this sweet young life.
After church we went out to eat with our Sunday School class. We went to a "hole in the wall" type family restaurant that serves decent food. (I wasn't cooking or cleaning up, so excellent food). A couple we know stayed behind and wanted to talk and we ended up talking for 3 hours. It was good to listen and try to offer advice.
Then we made another trip to a grocery store. We are all on a diet so lettuce is a big commodity here!!! It was good to have hubby with me to help bag groceries and talk. I never get tired of him.
And now I'm suppose to be paying bills.
1. Friends hurting
2. Grocery shopping
3. Bill paying
The things of an ordinary life, but I'm so glad I wasn't making other plans and missed my moments to live!!!

Habits
My bad habits aren't my title. My strengths and my talent are my title.
Wow!!! It is hard to believe that two years have passed since I last posted to my blog or participated in the Slice of Life. Funny it doesn't seem that long ago; however, isn't that how life turns out. We are busy doing and let those things we love fall to the wayside. I have a goal this month. I want to write something everyday. Leave a footprint. Share a strength. Expose a weakness. Reconnect with old friends. Just something to prove I was here and using my strengths and talents.
Happy writing to all!!!
