Need Ideas

I would like to spend the week before break making crafts. I want simple directions that the kids have to read in order to make the "what-ever". Perhaps, I can develop those critical reading skills and get them ready for expository writing after the break. I know you've got some! I would use Oriental Traders, but those tend to be too difficult.

You can go to Familyfun.com and get some ideas, they are usually cheap and easy. You can create a hand wreath (tracing hands and then cutting them out layering them). I have a mom that has come in two times to make a cookie craft with my kids. I make her read the directions one at a time and then the kids have to use the recipe directions to piece it all together. You could do pine cone feeders for birds (string, pinecones, peanut butter, & bird seed). I think it is a creative way to teach following instructions. Good luck!
